By purchasing from The Only Child, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

Product Descriptions

All items are vintage or one-off pieces. We describe each item as accurately as possible, including any imperfections or signs of age, but you accept that these items are not new.

Payment is processed securely through our website. All prices are in GBP.

Rental Terms & Conditions

1. General

These terms apply to the hire of all items from The Only Child.
By confirming a booking, you agree to the terms outlined below.

All items remain the property of The Only Child at all times.

2. Hire Period

The standard hire period is agreed in advance (typically 3–7 days unless otherwise arranged).

Items must be returned or made available for collection on the agreed date.
Additional charges may apply for late returns.

3. Pricing & Payment

Hire fees are charged per item for the agreed hire period.

Full payment is required to secure a booking unless otherwise agreed.
A refundable security deposit may be requested for larger or higher-value hires.

4. Delivery & Collection

Delivery and collection is available within a 10-mile radius and is charged based on location.

All timings will be agreed in advance and should be adhered to.
Access must be arranged by the client to ensure smooth delivery and collection.

5. Condition & Care

All items are vintage and may show signs of age — this is part of their character. Any pre-exisiting damage or signs of age will be noted in advance on the rental agreement form once items have been chosen for rental.

Items must be handled with care and used for their intended purpose only.
They should not be altered, repaired, or cleaned using abrasive materials.

6. Loss & Damage

The client is responsible for all items for the duration of the hire period.

Any loss, breakage, or damage will be charged at the full retail or replacement value of the item.

7. Use of Items

Items are hired for styling, display, and agreed use only.

They must not be sub-hired, loaned, or used for purposes outside the agreed project without prior permission.

8. Cancellations

Cancellations should be made as early as possible.

  • Cancellations made within a reasonable notice period may be refunded in full

  • Late cancellations may be subject to a partial or full charge

9. Liability

The Only Child is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from the use of hired items.

10. Acceptance

Confirmation of a booking constitutes acceptance of these terms.
