These beautiful jugs date back to the late 1800s. I knew nothing of them when I saw them just that I thought the intricate pattern, shape and blue glaze looked amazing. They are German Westerwald salt glazed donut shaped jugs - Westerwald being a type of salt-glazed grey stoneware pottery which originated in Belgium.
